Lemon Eucalyptus (Eucalyptus citriodora) organic from India
Lemon Eucalyptus is a very tall tree which grows in Australia and southern India. The oil has a strong citrusy scent with a woody undertone. The major chemicals contained in the essential oil are citronellal, linalool, and limonene.
It has gained a reputation recently for being an excellent alternative to DEET based products for use as an insect repellent. It may protect against ticks as well. Lemon eucalyptus has also been a traditional remedy for such things as arthritis, muscle spasms, toenail fungus, and flu when diluted well in a carrier oil such as Jojoba or Sesame.
Always dilute your essential oils in an unscented carrier oil like Sesame or Jojoba. Do not take essential oils internally. Always store essential oils out of heat and sunlight. Keep essential oils away from children and pregnant women.
