Oregano (Oreganum vulgare) from Hungary
Essential oil of Oregano is one of aromatherapy’s more “serious” oils. It should not be used lightly, and should never be used for long periods of time. Oregano is used in cases of serious bacterial infections. It is reputed to be antiviral, antiseptic, and anti fungal. It can be mixed with Tea Tree in remedies for Athlete’s Foot and other fungal infections. Oregano also helps with muscle pain, circulation, and headaches. Again, it needs to be mixed with plenty of carrier oil such as Grapeseed or Jojoba before being applied to the skin.
Probably the best application for Oregano essential oil is to utilize its immune stimulant properties by diffusing it into the air to help heal respiratory infections.
Always dilute your essential oils in an unscented carrier oil like Sesame or Jojoba. Do not take essential oils internally. Always store essential oils out of heat and sunlight. Keep essential oils away from children and pregnant women.
